Welcome to artbytravissmith.com! I grew up in the small town of Roberts Creek on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast. I gravitated towards art early, inspired by my father and older brothers. I developed a fascination with videogames and at the age of 15, I began volunteering as a texture painter for the Half-Life modification Day of Defeat. Just prior to my highschool graduation we sold the game to Valve Software and were hired to develop Day of Defeat: Source.
Eventually I made my way to art school to expand my knowledge beyond texture painting. Since then I have worked primarily within Character/Creatures, including Modeling, Concept/Design, Look Development, Texture Painting and Grooming for Sony Imageworks, Method Studios, Pixomondo, Disney, Marvel, Mattel, ABC, Netflix and more. I currently work as a Senior Character Artist and Designer at Pixomondo.
